How results are ordered: nearest to Norwich centre first, then by rating from reviews of jobs we matched. Only trades who signed up are shown. Every trade listed pays for a Linesteward plan; no plan buys a higher place. The “Answers calls 24/7 with Linesteward” badge means the trade’s calls are answered by our receptionist when they can’t pick up; it does not change the order. How we rank trades

Post your job

What to put in your job description

  • Every job on your list, one per line: a shelf, a curtain pole, a flat-pack wardrobe, a dripping tap.
  • What you have already bought, and what they should bring.
  • Anything high up or heavy.
  • When you'll be in.
  • Whether there is waste to take away.

Don't put your name, phone number or address in the description: every trade who covers your area reads it. Your name, phone, email and address go only to the trades who take the job (3 at most).

Questions to ask before you hire

  • Is the price per hour, per job or for the whole list?
  • Is there a minimum charge?
  • Which jobs on my list should go to a registered gas engineer or electrician instead?
  • Will you take away packaging and waste?
  • Do you have public liability insurance?

Registers and schemes to check

There is no register for handymen. Gas work must be done by an engineer on the Gas Safe Register, and a lot of electrical work by an electrician in a competent person scheme, so leave those jobs to them. We don't check this for you yet.

Your council in Norwich

Your local council deals with rubbish and bulky waste collections, and with planning if the job changes the outside of your home. For most of Norwich that is Norwich City Council; a postcode at the edge may be in a neighbouring council's area.

We take jobs from NR1, NR2, NR3, NR4, NR5, NR6, NR7, NR8, NR9, NR10, NR11, NR12, NR13, NR14, NR15, NR16, NR18, NR19, NR26, NR28 and 1 more for Norwich. Trades choose the districts they cover.
