Linesteward vs pay-per-lead sites
Lead sites work in different ways: some charge per lead with a price that depends on the job, some charge a membership, some take a fee when you win. Here is exactly how ours works, and the questions to ask of any of them before you pay.
| Question | Linesteward | Ask any lead site |
|---|---|---|
| How many trades get each lead? | 3 at most. Then the job closes, and you see how many have taken it before you decide. | How many trades is each lead sold to, and can I see that before I pay? |
| What does a lead cost? | 2 credits when the job's budget is under £1,000 or not set, 3 credits when it is £1,000 or more. A Job line call you accept is 1 credit. Plans include credits each month (£35 for 20, £89 for 45, £229 for 150 credits); bundles cost £2, £1.50, £1.60 a credit. | Does the price change with the job, the area or demand? |
| Do I see the job before I pay? | Yes: the work, budget range, timing and postcode district. Skipping a job is free. | What exactly do I see before I pay? |
| Dead number or fake job? | Report it within 30 days and the credit comes back at once, up to 3 times a month; more are looked at by a person. | What is the refund rule, and how long does it take? |
| Fee when I win the job? | 1 credit per call you accept. No other fee per job. | Is there a commission or a fee per job won? |
| Can I pay to rank higher? | No. Search is sorted by distance and rating from matched jobs. | Does paying more move me up? |
| Contract? | No. Monthly, by card, cancel any time. | Is there a minimum term or a notice period? |
| Calls when I'm on a job? | Every plan includes an AI receptionist that answers, takes the details and texts you. The Job line is included in Pro and Team, £29 a month on Starter. | What happens to calls I miss? |
| Reviews | Only from homeowners whose job you took through us. We publish every review that meets our policy. | Who can review me, and can reviews be removed? |

Why don't you name other sites?
Their prices and rules change, and we haven't compared them on a set date. So this page says exactly how ours works and gives you the questions to ask any lead site, including us.
Is Linesteward a pay-per-lead site?
Partly. You pay a monthly plan that includes credits, and a lead costs 2 or 3 credits by the job's budget. The difference is the rules: 3 trades per job at most, the job shown before you pay, credits back for dead numbers, and no fee when you win the job.
